By atmarupa
Unwanted hair has become a problem these days. So many people look for the permanent hair removal methods to solve this problem. The cause of the problem is the intention or even an urge to look the best we can. Many people try or practice shaving, cutting, axfoliating, plucking and moisturizing, and even more - all this to improve their physical appearance. The growth of unwanted hair can happen everywhere on the body, and bring embarrasment and humiliation; this is often true for women.
So What Is Permanent Hair Removal?
Our hair has three main stages: growth (anagen phase), regression (catagen phase) and resting (telogen phase). If you want to undergo a permanent treatment, it will be effective only in the stage of active growing cycle.
The stage of active growth may be different for different hair follicles. When you try to uproot the unwanted hair, it will grow back (usually in 2-6 weeks, which depends on the particular part of the body). The stages themselves can last from two to six months - this depends on the particular body mechanism.
If there is a constant need for hair removal, so it is quite wise to try permanent hair removal methods, since they will pay back in a long run.
The most common methods for permanent hair removal at home or in clinic are electrolysis and laser hair removal.
Electrolysis
So what is behind the electrolysis method? Usually there is an ultra thin metal probe that is inserted in the hair follicle, and a little amount of electricity is applied to it, that burns the follicle. Although the process can be troublesome and takes long time, it gives you long-lasting results.
You should educate yourself a bit on the process or get a professional help, otherwise there is a possibility to accidentally damage the skin.
Laser Hair Removal
It is quite well known permanent hair removing method. Thanks to the modern technologies, the whole procedure has become less painful and more effective. So what this method includes?
Firstly, the patient goes to the dermatologist for consultation. This is required to avoid possible side effects. The doctor asks the patient on prescription drugs or other medicines he or she takes, their skin and hair coloring, their history of unprotected sun exposure before the treatment. This is also required to choose the appropriate laser type that works best for your skin and hair type.
Then you need to decide whether you will go to a clinic or will go for a home permanent hair removal. In the first case you need to find a reputable and trusted clinic, of may be new clinic but with experienced or at least honest doctors who are properly trained and know what they do.
If you want to do it at home, then you need to get an at home laser hair removal machine. It may seem costly, but if your need for removing hair is constant then it will be cost efficient in a long term use.
The process is not painful as was told before; a beam of light is targeted towards a hair follicle and damages or destroys it. Usually several treatments are required to slow down the hair growth by 80 %. In average it could be like 5-8 sessions.
Although there can be some possible side effects, if the procedure is performed by a professionally trained person, a certified doctor, the process will be safe and painless. Otherwise the risks may include scars, blisters, crusty appearance, discoloration, etc. Well, these side effects are not forever, but some of them might last for some time thus making your life a bit troublesome.
There are several types of lasers used: Ruby, Diode, IPL, Alexandrite, and Nd: YAG, etc. Different laser types are there for different skin and hair types.
Choose any from the permanent hair removal methods you like, but be responsible for what you are going to do, and get a proper consultation before the treatment starts. Also you can look for the ways for removing body hair, that are easier and cheaper, although not permanent.
